Dragon Tiger is a minimal card game: one card each, highest wins. That simplicity makes it quick to learn and quick to play, so the main risk is the pace, not the rules. This page covers how a round works, the bets, how the game compares with baccarat, and what to check in the GT99 live lobby.
How a round works
Two positions are dealt a single card each, Dragon on one side and Tiger on the other. Cards rank from ace low to king high in most versions, and suits are ignored in the main bets. The higher card wins. If both cards match in rank, the result is a tie.
Because only one card is dealt per side, a round takes seconds. No drawing rules, no totals, no decisions after the bet. The entire game is the bet itself.
The bets
Main bets resolve on the card comparison.
| Bet | Wins when | Typical payout | Edge note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dragon | Dragon card is higher | Even money | Tie handling varies |
| Tiger | Tiger card is higher | Even money | Tie handling varies |
| Tie | Both ranks match | High multiple | Highest edge |
Tie handling matters
On Dragon and Tiger bets, a tie may return half the stake or may lose the whole stake depending on the table. This one rule moves the edge more than the choice between Dragon and Tiger. Read the rules panel and note how ties are handled before you place a bet.
Some tables add side bets, such as odd or even, or card suit. These generally carry a larger edge than the main bets. Treat them as entertainment only.
Comparison with baccarat
Dragon Tiger can be thought of as baccarat without the scoring. In baccarat you have a Player and a Banker hand, drawing rules and a score out of nine. In Dragon Tiger one card decides. Fewer cards means a quicker game and fewer chances to follow what happened, so losses can accumulate at speed.
Pace control
Estimate your hourly turnover: bets per hour multiplied by the bet size. At a pace of several rounds a minute, even a small stake produces a large total over an hour. Pick a stake from a budget, not from the table minimum, and take a breather every so often; the advice in how to take a proper break applies well to rapid games. The live casino hub has other table guides.
Why the dealer does not matter
The dealer is the presenter, not a participant in the outcome. Cards come from a shuffled shoe and are turned over in sequence. Changing tables, waiting for a different dealer or switching sides after a loss does nothing to the probabilities. If a table feels unlucky, the only meaningful reason to change it is a better rule on ties or a lower minimum.
